Labour warns of fire during summer
BANGKOK, March 18 (TNA) -- The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare has issued a warning to all companies to beware of fires erupting during the summer season, advising everyone to be extra vigilant at risk areas.
Director-general for Labour Protection and Welfare Sumet Mahosot said the hot and humid climate could cause heat to accumulated in various locations and could cause fires to ignite.
He said his department has issued out a warning to all employers and employees to be on extra alert against fires by carefully monitoring internal risk locations, such as storage, chemical storage, and broken wires.
He said surrounding areas should also be inspected, while preparations to prevent fire should be carried out, including basic fire drills and the inspection of fire fighting system and equipment.
Mr Sumet said employers should also provide better care to workers required in the heat, including the provision of heat prevention accessories, rest areas and adequate drinking water, along with appropriately set the break times for each worker to get out of the heat. (TNA)
