Land reclamation discussed

Manama, Aug.15 (BNA): Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina held a meeting with the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Nabeel Abul Fateh. The meeting, which was attended by Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa focused on land reclamation procedures. The SCE chief raised key issues aimed at strengthening cooperation between the council and the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to coordinate the issuance of land reclamation licences and follow-up operations to ensure their compliance with the law. The meeting also highlighted the need to take into account environmental requirements when issuing construction permits. The three officials discussed the impact of destructive shrimping practices on Bahrain’s fish reserves. The meeting was attended by Northern Municipality director-general Youssef Al-Fadhala, Muharraq Municipality director-general, acting director-general of the Southern Municipality Ibrahim Youssef Al-Jowder, Capital Trustees Board director-general Shawqiya Ibrahim Humaidan and ministry’s legal advisor Abu Bakr Hamed.
