Latin American Festival At Bukit Bintang Park

KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Latin American diversified gastronomy, music, dance and art are the highlights of the fourth Latin American Festival held at Bukit Bintang (BB) Park, the centre of cultural heritage in Kuala Lumpur here Sunday.
The annual festival - jointly organised by the embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela and the Latin Ladies Association of Malaysia - is aimed at introducing the vast cultures of Latin America to Malaysians.
Venezuelan Ambassador Manuel Antonio Guzman Hernandez said the one-day festival would also be a great opportunity for the whole Latin American community living in Malaysia to get together by celebrating their country's culture and introduce their unique culture to Malaysian.
"Latin America is a continent with a very ancient history, possesses one of the most dynamic, varied and colourful cultures in the world," he said in his welcoming speech at the festival.
He said proceeds generated from the event would go towards charity programmes sponsored by the Latin American Ladies Association in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia acting director-general Azizan Nordin, who was also present, said the festival presented a golden opportunity for Malaysians to get to know more about South America and hoped it would establish "two-way" tourism traffic between Malaysia and coutries in that continent.
