Liquid restriction in planes to go into effect on March 1
ANKARA (A.A) - February 29, 2012 - A liquid restriction in hand/cabin luggage of airline passengers, currently applicable on all international flights, will be effective in all flights at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport and Sabiha Gokcen International Airport as of March 1.
As of April 1, the liquid restriction will be applicable on all domestic flights.
While carrying liquid did not get restricted fully, passengers can carry only a certain amount of liquid with themselves.
Each passenger may carry in hand/cabin luggage a plastic bag with a capacity of one litre and a dimension of 20x20 centimeters. In this plastic bag, a passenger may carry liquid materials each with no more than a weight of 100 millilitres.
There may be exemptions to the liquid restriction if a parent may have to carry baby food and milk or a passenger may have to carry medication in an original packing.
Officials at the airport may request from the parent to taste the food or milk and ask the ill patient to show documents pertaining to the illness.
Below is a list of liquid materials that will be under the restriction:
-Water, syrup, all liquid drinks
-Creams, lotions, ointment, cologne, perfume, mascara
-Shaving gel, deodorants, toothpaste
-Jam, honey, yoghurt, molasse, tomato paste
-Liquid for contact lenses, shampoo, spray
