Long lined-buyers of commemorative banknotes of late Thai King

BANGKOK, October 28 (TNA) - People were lining up in a long queue at the head office of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) in Bangkok on Friday morning to buy commemorative banknotes in remembrance of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away on October 13. SCB was allocated by the Bank of Thailand (BOT) a total of 185,000 commemorative banknotes marking the 84th birthday anniversary of the late and beloved Thai King, bearing 100 baht, and a total of 175,000 banknotes marking the 70th anniversary of late His Majesty's accession to the throne, bearing 70 baht, to be offered to the public at 200 baht and 100 baht each respectively. All 16,000 commemorative banknotes, offered at the SCB headquarters, were swiftly sold out, with each person allowed to purchase only one set of each of the commemorative bills. A buyer who arrived at the SCB headquarters in the early morning said she want to keep the commemorative banknotes to remind her of what the late and revered Thai monarch had contributed to the public and the nation and she will preserve the notes for her children.
