Lubna Al Qasimi stresses importance of global partnership to develop persons with disabilities

New York, NY: Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation, has called for boosting cooperation and global partnership in order to find less cost, more developed and innovated ways to improve the living conditions of disabled, as well as treating them in a decent way, especially in the developing countries.
Sheikha Lubna said, "Despite the progress that has been achieved in terms of the application of the international conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities, also ratified by the UAE in 2008, and out of its conviction on the importance of supporting the international efforts in order to deal positively with that humanitarian issue, but still there are a lot of efforts to be exerted to face obstacles facing that segment."
Sheikha Lubna's remarks came when she participated in the forum entitled "Achieving the Developmental Goals of the Millennium and targets agreed for people with disabilities," in the light of the participation of the UAE's delegation in the 86th session of the UN's General Assembly.
She affirmed the UAE's support for the international efforts to secure protection for the handicapped. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
