Malaysian Civil Servants Urged to Further Improve Work Performance
KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Civil servants have been urged to further
improve their performance to provide even better service to the people, said
Chief Secretary to the Government, Dr Ali Hamsa.
He said civil servants are a group responsible for implementing the
government's and policies programmes for the betterment of the people.
"If we put ourselves as the end-user, obviously we will implement what
has been entrusted by the government with even more commitment.
"Let us give even greater priority to the people so that they can reap the
full benefits of the policies and programmes," he said when opening a Public
Management Diploma course at the National Institute of Public Administration
(INTAN) near here Thursday.
Some 299 participants are attending the six-month course from June 11
to December 21.
Meanwhile, he called on all administrative officers go to the ground to
boost the performance of their subordinates.
"I am asking all departmental directors and administrative officers to go to
the ground to assess their respective levels of work apart from considering the
activity as an additional motivation to the officers themselves," he said.
Meanwhile, MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) President Dr Chua Soi Lek
urged Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) graduates to join the civil service
following the recognition of a total 74 Diplomas and Advance certificates from
the college by the government.
He said the recognition of TARC certificates meant that its graduates since
the 1990s would obtain the Public Services Department’s recognition and this
would pave the way for them to join the civil service.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Najib Razak and
Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin for their assistance to
recognise the college’s certificates," he said in a statement here on Thursday.
During a visit to TARC on Wednesday, Najib announced that the Government
would retrospectively recognise the diplomas and higher diplomas of more than
70 programmes by TARC with immediate effect.
TARC, founded by MCA in 1969, is currently offering diploma and higher
diploma courses.
