Malaysian Government Constantly Strengthening Ties with Indonesia - Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government is constantly looking for ways to strengthen bilateral ties with Indonesia in various fields, through the Information Communication and Culture Ministry. The ministry's deputy minister Senator Maglin Dennis D'Cruz said this was evident in the establishment of the Malaysia-Indonesia People's Foundation recently, apart from cooperation in the fields of economy, education, language and cultural heritage. "It is hoped that the foundation would be a platform for joint efforts between non-governmental organisations, students, teachers, and art and culture activists. "I was also informed that previously there were collaborations between the National Art Culture and Heritage Academy (ASWARA) and the Kuala Lumpur Indonesia School in art and culture," he said at the Indonesian Art and Cultural Night at the school here on Friday night. Maglin added that the long friendship and solidarity between the two nations enabled various cooperation apart from handicraft, customs, language and culture. -- BERNAMA
