Malaysian Helps Cook Up A Tuesday Night Dining Deal

By Neville D'Cruz MELBOURNE (Australia), June 11 (Bernama) -- An acclaimed Malaysian restaurateur and five other noted Sydney chefs at Westfield shopping centre have devised an exquisite dining programme at affordable prices to draw customers on Tuesdays, a day when business is generally slow. Simon Goh, formerly from Klang, Selangor, says it's an experience all, especially visiting Malaysians, should enjoy. The Tuesday Chefs' Club deal, which was launched last week at Westfield in Sydney's central business district, offers specials including a four-course dinner with wine for US$30 (about RM95). "This is a fantastic offer as the food is not only mouth-watering but there's also an excellent variety of cuisines," Goh, owner of the Chinta Ria chain, told Bernama. He said that because Tuesday night was a slow day, dining out had to be exciting and cheap to get diners interested. "Tuesday night in the city has always been very temperamental. At my other restaurant at Cockle Bay, we always have bands and things to get people out on a Tuesday night, so it's good to see that happening at Westfield too. "It's great for people to know it's a dining precinct, not just a retail precinct, and there is fine dining on the top floors at Westfield," the former Klang La Salle School student said. The six restaurants are Xanthi, Quarter Twenty One, Chat Thai, Spiedo, Chinta Ria Mood for Love and Cara&Co. "I think it will be well received," said chef David Tsirekas, whose Xanthi Greek restaurant is offering roasted lamb, Greek salad and caramel baklava ice-cream as part of the deal. Quarter Twenty One owner Justin North said conditions were difficult for restaurants at present. "Thursday, Friday, Saturday are pretty packed, but we're trying to encourage the diner out in the earlier part of the week," The Daily Telegraph quoted North as saying. -- BERNAMA
