Malaysian PM And Wife Host Luncheon For Ban Ki-Moon, Wife

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and wife, Rosmah Mansor, hosted a lunch for United Nations (UN) secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon and wife Ban Soon-Taek at Seri Perdana here Thursday. The luncheon at the prime minister's official residence was in conjunction with Ban's two-day visit to Malaysia. Also present were Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, his deputies, Richard Riot and A. Kohilan Pillay, Malaysian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Datuk Hussein Hannif, and a delegation comprising UN senior officials and staff. Seventeen Permata Seni Muzik students aged between eight and 14, treated the delegation with seven songs during the lunch. This is Ban's first visit to Malaysia, since taking office on Jan 1, 2007. He was unanimously re-elected by the UN General Assembly last year to serve as secretary-general of the world body until Dec 31, 2016. -- BERNAMA
