Malaysian University UniMAP Wins Six Golds In Moscow

ARAU (Perlis, Malaysia), April 7 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP or University of Malaysia, Perlis) has made waves once again at the international research arena when it won six gold and four silver medals at the 17th Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies (Archimedes) at the Sokolniki Convention and Exhibition Centre in Moscow, Russia. The four-day competition, which ended last Saturday, was participated by 20 countries, including Canada, Crotia, Taiwan, Korea, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Bahrin, Britain, Slovenia and several African countries as well as a research delegation from UniMAP, which also won six special awards. UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the delegation's success in showcasing the university's innovative inventions out the 900 products being displayed by the participants was an achievement. Among the awards were for the Continous Fiber Geopolymer Composite Via Filament Winding, an invention by the Engineering Technology Faculty which won a gold medal and the Moscow special award, he said in a statement here Monday. He said the faculty, which was established only at the end of last year, also won a special award for the Greenplast-Novel Oxo-Biodegradable Plastic using Natural Pro-Oxidant product. --BERNAMA
