Malaysians Beginning to Benefits from Changes Made by BN Government - PM

MELAKA (Malaysia), June 23 (Bernama) -- Najib Razak said the people are now beginning to enjoy the benefits from the transformation programmes carried out by the National Front (Barisan Nasional-BN) government in the past three years. The Prime Minister said the promises made by the BN government in developing the country and helping the people had been fulfilled through the various programmes implemented during the period. "Within the last three years alone, people are saying real change is taking place...imagine if we have another five years, certainly we can make more changes, thus believe in our promises, promises which are fulfilled," he said in his speech at the launching of the Melaka UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) and "Promises Fulfilled" tour at Hang Tuah Street, here Saturday. Also present were the prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam, Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, and Rural and Regional Development Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal. Najib said all efforts could be implemented through the idea and implementation capability of the BN government which had been proven all this while. He said the implementation of programmes including the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), 1Malaysia Public Housing (PR1MA), 1Malaysia Clinic and the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) and Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) proved that the government had succeeded in implementing all that it had planned. "We must have the intellectual capacity to think of new ideas because in the 21st century, anyone with better ideas will get the support of the people, so we have ideas to help the people. Not only did we implement BR1M, PR1MA, we also have the idea so that in the centre of this town we also implement urban transformation," he said. On the other hand, Najib said the opposition made many promises that they could not fulfil to the extent that the people in the states ruled by them were facing difficulties. "We cannot accept people who make promises but don't fulfil them, people who lie...we as a government must fulfil our promises," he said. Meanwhile, Najib said the government planned to implement PR1MA in the state of Melaka that would enable the people in the state to buy houses at prices that were 20 to 30 per cent cheaper than the market price. -- BERNAMA
