Malaysia's King To Visit Brunei

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah will be on a three-day official visit to Brunei from May 9 until Friday (May 11). The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Malaysia in a statement here said the visit would be the first by the king since his installation on April 11. He will be accompanied by the Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah, Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin as minister-in-attendance, as well as senior officials from the foreign affairs ministry, National Palace and the Prime Minister's Department. "The visit represents the close and special tie between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam," the statement said. The royal itinerary involves an audience with Brunei Ruler, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, a national banquet to be hosted by the King and Queen, and a visit to the Royal Regalia Building and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Gallery. Their majesties will also be meeting with the Malaysian community in Brunei. -- BERNAMA
