Many provinces hit by flood

LOEI, Oct 17 (TNA) -- Many provinces have been hit by flood following heavy rain. In Loei’s Chiang Khan municipality, heavy rain and forest run-off triggered the most severe flood in ten years. The main road, leading to the market and the Mahathat temple has been under water while rain continues. In Maha Sarakram, the Chee River has overflowed and flooded upto 100 houses in Kosumpisai district after the Ubonrat dam increased water discharge from 46 million cubic metres per day to 50 cubic metres per day since last night. Some areas have been under one metre of water. Some roads have been cut off, forcing local residents to travel by boat. Farm produce were destroyed by flood. In Phisanulok, overnight heavy rain triggered forest run-off, flowing to villages in Noen Maprang district. A school has been hit by a new round of flood after it was hit by flood nine times this year. (TNA)
