Maritime Coordinating Minister Inspects Hybrid Wind Turbine

Bantul, Yogyakarta, Feb 6 (Antara) - Indonesian Maritime Coordinating Minister Indroyono Soesilo is scheduled to inspect a hybrid power plant and a solar panel installation at the New Pandansimo Beach of Bantul District, Yogyakarta Province, on Friday morning. "Minister Indroyono's visit is related to the regional innovation model and the wind turbine located at the beach," Secretary of Bantul's Fishery and Maritime Service Imam Subardiasa stated here on Friday. The New Pandansimo Beach is an area outlined for conducting renewable energy research, which was pioneered by the Technology and Research Ministry and managed by the Bantul Administration and the Gadjah Mada University. "It is the first visit of the minister to the New Pandansimo Beach. The Yogyakarta Provincial Administration and Cilacap Administration have made preparations for the reception, while the Bantul Fishery and Maritime Service has carried out the necessary on-site preparations and invited the fishermen to participate," Imam noted. The minister will arrive at the beach at 9:50 a.m. local time after landing at the Adi Sucipto Airport at 9:20 a.m. local time. Earlier, in February, the minister had visited several development and research centers of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in Bandung, West Java. Indroyono sought the center's assistance in formulating a prototype for reverse osmosis. He explained that the instrument is part of a technology to distill saline into fresh water to meet the needs of the community living in the coastal areas in Pandeglang, Banten, and Segaranakan marine village, Cilacap, Central Java.
