MCOT ready for digital TV services

BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), a most established Thai media firm, has confirmed its readiness to provide advance digital TV services to the public. New MCOT President Anek Permwongseni informed the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) deputy chair, Colonel Natee Kusolrat, of the company's readiness for the digital TV services on Tuesday, when he led a team of MCOT executives to meet Colonel Natee at the NBTC office in Bangkok. Anek assured the NBTC that MCOT, as a state-run and leading media agency with full-circled mass communication services for public interests, is now well-prepared to step into the world of digital TV, by cooperating with the NBTC in testing the digital system and by becoming a leading provider of digital TV services in the near future. Furthermore, Anek said, MCOT is ready to join hands with the NBTC in publicizing useful and proper knowledge about the digital TV system to the public through its various media channels in the lead-up to the launch of the digital TV system in Thailand. The new MCOT top executive noted that the digital TV system is a most modern media tool through which useful information can be broadcast to the public with nationwide access and reduced information gap between rural and urban people.
