Merit-making activities for 1st anniversary of King Bhumibol’s passing
BANGKOK, Oct 12 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will lead cabinet ministers to make merits on the first anniversary of His Majest late King Bhumibol’s passing on Oct 13 at Government House.
The ceremony was scheduled to start at 6am which 89 Buddhist monks will receive alms there.
Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Army will do the same at its units nationwide.
Col Sirichan Ngathong, deputy spokesperson of the army, said army commander-in-chief Gen Chalermchai Sittisad would preside over merit-making activities in remembrance of His Majesty the late King at the army headquarters in Bangkok from 7am on Oct 13.
“The activities include alms giving for 89 Buddhist monks in front of the King Rama V statue. Then 10 Buddhist monks will chant prayers. Staff of the Royal Thai Army headquarters, army unit commanders in Bangkok and members of the Thai Army Wives Association will participate,” Col Sirichan said.
According to her, army units nationwide will organize similar activities and support other parties in doing so simultaneously.
The army encouraged people nationwide to attend the activities near their residences to pay tribute to late King Bhumibol on the very important occasion, Col Sirichan said. (TNA)
