Minister commends robotics contest winners efforts

Manama, Mar. 31 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi received the team of students who won the second edition local Robot Fix contest who will represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the finales of the international robotics contest in the USA in April. The national team was chosen in nationwide robotics contest in which 500 students had competed. The minister praised the team's efforts during this contest, reaffirming the ministry's attaching great importance to innovation and talent as the basic link supplementing the efforts aimed to nurture student creativity in a sound educational environment, wishing them success in in April. The ministry of education said the local robotics contest aims to develop the participants' scientific, technological, technical and mathematical skills. The contest gathers teams of youth from all over the kingdom and tests their creative and innovative aptitudes and capabilities of problem-solving and surmounting challenges. The contestants applied various school subjects linked with science, technology and mathematics deemed of importance in robotics performance. The students learned and implemented the designing of robots according to various mechanisms according to engineering concepts. They gained practical, competitiveness and project-management skills inside the group or team. The know how to showcase their creativity and are eager to move the Bahraini community from consumer of technological products to manufacturer as well as open channels of communications with various local, Arab and international governmental and private bodies.
