Manama, Jan. 21 (BNA): Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed has received a delegation from United Parcel Service (UPS). Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, and representatives from Bahrain Economic Board (EDB) and BAC were also present. They discussed UPS’s future plans in Bahrain, including the development of its cargo services at the Bahrain International Airport (BIA), and its aim to increase the volume of shipments to and from the country. The minister stressed the importance of cooperating with multinational logistics providers to help strengthen Bahrain's strategic position as a leader in efficient and reliable logistic services in the GCC and wider Middle East. The minister said that the ministry will provide all necessary facilities and support to help enhance BIA and increase its contribution to the local economy, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. UPS is one of the international freight forwarding companies at BIA maintaining a presence at the airport for more than 15 years. It is among a number of other international air cargo companies with regional offices based in the Kingdom, which includes DHL, British Airways World Cargo and Lufthansa, confirming the status of BIA as a leading air cargo hub.
