Minister meets university chancellor

Dubai, Apr. 8 (BNA): Education Minister, Higher Education Council Chairman, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, has met Dr. Mansour Al Awar, chancellor of Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University Dubai (HBMSU). The two sides discussed cooperation between the ministry and the university based on close relations between Bahrain and UAE. The minister reviewed the efforts exerted by the Higher Education Council to improve the outputs of higher educational institutions, and to attract foreign universities to open branches in Bahrain or to provide academic programmes. Dr. Al Awar highlighted the advantages of Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University and its academic programmes at the bachelor's and master's level, which focus on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and computers. It was agreed to establish a mechanism to develop cooperation between the ministry and the university in order to enhance the existing educational cooperation between the two countries.
