Minister receives US delegation

Manama, Aug. 20 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a delegation from the Energy and Trade Committee of the US House of Representatives, headed by Mary Martin. The minister praised the historical 200-year old relations between Bahrain and the United States of America and made a presentation on the plans and projects of the electricity, water and renewable energy sector and the steps taken by the government in the field of energy sustainability along with investment opportunities available to companies. The minister said the Bahrain leadership paid great attention to encouraging the use of clean energy and the government had set up national goals for energy efficiency and renewable energy to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. The delegation members said they were pleased to see Bahrain’s experience and the progress it had made in the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors. The head of the delegation said they wished to activate more international cooperation in these areas to seek the encouragement of investments, trade and scientific research. The visitors thanked the minister and the officials for the welcome and the hospitality and the minister’s interest and encouragement to strengthen mechanisms of cooperation.
