Ministry to file for expediting society dissolution case

Manama, June 23 (BNA): The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment will file another lawsuit on Sunday on expediting the examination of a request to dissolve Al-Wefaq Islamic Society. In a statement issued today, the Political Societies Affairs’ Office at the ministry said the request to expedite the examination of the lawsuit was in accordance with the Political Societies’ Law which stipulates that “the court shall issue its ruling on the dissolution request within a period not exceeding 30 days.” The statement pointed out that the deadline was set by the legislator to fast-track cases related to dissolving political societies with gross legal violations, without prejudice to the rights of all parties. It is to be noted that on June 14, the court released a ruling on an expedited basis to close the headquarters of Al Wefaq.
