MOPH Celebrates 8th Qatar Patient Safety Week

Doha, October 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), in cooperation with a number of its partners, organized a variety of important events and activities during the 8th Qatar Patient Safety Week held under the theme "Medication without harm". In celebration, the Ministry's building, many health institutions, and national monuments were lit in orange. This symbolic initiative represents the pivotal role of patient safety in achieving universal health coverage and acknowledging the importance of global drug safety practices. Lectures and discussion seminars were also held in various places within health and educational institutions, while the MOPH prepared a set of awareness messages and videos related to drug safety targeting the public and health sector workers, which were displayed within health institutions and on various social media platforms. Some health institutions organized poster competitions on quality improvement and patient safety. The best posters were honored to encourage health practitioners to innovate, develop and improve. Pavilions on matching medicines were also organized in a number of governmental, semi-governmental, and private hospitals, in addition to implementing awareness campaigns for the public in cooperation with a number of public and private agencies. The celebration of the Qatar Patient Safety Week represents an important opportunity to promote and spread a culture of patient safety through dialogue with decision-makers in all health fields to develop the necessary systems and laws to raise the level of care, raise awareness on patient safety, encourage communication between decision-makers, health care providers and patients, and exchange information experiences and knowledge about the best practices in the field of patient safety. Additionally, it highlights the challenges facing the activation of national initiatives in this field, finding and developing appropriate solutions through joint cooperation between the public and private sectors, and creating a forum for dialogue between patients and health care providers, enhancing patient participation in building a safe health system.
