Motorists asked to drive safely during Songkran

BANGKOK, April 11 (TNA) -- Minister of Interior Gen Anupong Paojinda said that the Road Safety Centre will evaluate traffic situation daily during the Songkran Festival starting from April 11-17. The minister in his capacity as the chairman of the Road Safety Directing Centre said that the Centre is set to evaluate the situation daily and hold meetings every day. Gen Anupong said detailed reports on traffic would be sent into the Centre, after which the Centre would evaluate whether there are any adjustments needed, noting that the Centre is waiting on the first report, as yesterday was the first day of the seven most dangerous days during Songkran or between April 11-17. The minister added that the for those who have decided to leave the capital for their hometowns, were able to do with ease, as the traffic was not too bad. However, he expressed worries as drivers would be able to drive more faster and asked motorists to drive carefully and under the speed limit. (END)
