Msian Government to implement Local Maid Sevice System - Deputy Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- The government will take into account the abilities of local citizens in the plan to implement the local maid service system to reduce the country's dependancy on the foreign work force. Human Resource Deputy Minister Maznah Mazlan said the plan would involve their job scopes, types of training and welfare, as well as whether they have to stay with the employees if the plan were to be implemented. In addition, she said there was also the possibility of rebranding the job, she told reporters after officiating the 'Semai Kasih' programme and the ceremony to recognise the Disabled Business Assistance Scheme's (SBGP-OKU) entrepreneurs, here, Saturday. She said under the SBGP-OKU project, about RM20 million (US$6.28 million) had been channeled to 698 participants which had also provided job opportunities to 1,524 disabled people nationwide since it was launched in 2007. Due to the overwhelming response, she said the project would be continued under the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK-10) with allocation of RM3 million (US$942,507) for every two years which would be given by the government each time the ministry renewed the allocation application. -- BERNAMA
