BANGKOK, August 2 (TNA) - Regional museum experts and staff are gathering in Bangkok for the Museum Forum 2016, organised by the National Discover Museum Insitute (NDMI) during August 2-3. aimed at brainstorming ideas and sharing experiences on the development of museums. NDMI Chief Rames Promyen said while opening the two-day forum on Tuesday that nowadays museums not only help conserve national cultures, but also play more roles on the development of public education to promote and sustain knowledge-based societies globally. In case of Thailand, the NDMI chief pointed out that a practical process on knowledge and experience sharing is needed to be further developed by museums to draw more public interest and to enable them to gain more access to targeted groups of visitors more efficiently. The NDMI chief expressed his hope that the two-day forum would be a platform for personnel of Thai museums and relevant agencies to gain more ideas and experiences on people-oriented museum development and management through the regional brainstorming. The Museum Forum 2016 is focused on academic lectures on museum development approaches, including the application of advance digital technology and the wider participation by local communities under the concept of "museum without walls".
