Muslims Have Task To Explain Islam: Zakir Naik

BANDUNG, W Java, April 3 (Antara) - Muslim intellectual Dr Zakir Naik of India has said that a Muslim has the obligation to propagate, explain and provide true information about Islam because many non-Muslims have no correct understanding of Islam. "A lot of international media often makes wrong reports about Islam so that every Muslim has the obligation to explain about Islam to those who do not understand it," Naik said in his lectures at the Gymnasium Hall of the University of Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday. One of the ways to prevent non-Muslims from the influence of incorrect information about Islam is carrying out proselytizing. With propagation, all negative stigma could be removed. "We have the responsibility because we are obligated to carry out His orders and avoid His prohibitions. We as Muslims have the obligation to correct the mistakes," he said. Naik said Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim populated country. He is convinced that Indonesia could become the strength and peace symbol of the Islamic world. "Indonesia should become example of the Islamic world, after all it has the largest Muslim population in the world," he said. Naik said that now Islamic countries are being disunited due to various conflicts so that Islam often is given bad stigma. Hence, Indonesia which has the world's largest Muslim population should serve as the starting point for uniting Muslim countries. "No one has the courage to stay against us if we are united. Unfortunately, we are disunited. I am convinced Indonesia has strong Muslim strength,"he said. u.
