Muslims Urged to Endeavour to Make Malaysia as Best Muslim Nation

JOHOR BAHARU (Johor,Malaysia), June 9 (Bernama) -- Muslims in the country are urged to work together to turn Malaysia into the best Muslim nation to be emulated in the world. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom said this could be done by strengthening solidarity among the ummah like in the days of the Islamic glory which had enabled the religion to be spread throughout the world. "When all Muslims understand and share this aspiration, then it will be easier for us to face the challenge to achieve the vision of a developed nation with high income," he said. Jamil Khir said this at the closing of the 55th national-level Quran Reciters' Assembly at the Johor International Convention Centre, here on Friday. He said that Muslims in the country should be able to harness the existing strength to develop the religion, race and country in all aspects of the economy, politics, social and education as shown by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The assembly was attended by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris, The Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ibrahim and other members of the royal family. Twenty-seven male and female reciters are participating in the five-day assembly which began on Monday. -- BERNAMA
