Myanmar authorities to return belonging of 92 Thai detainees

BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - Myanmar authorities have prepared to return all belongings of 92 Thai nationals who were recently prosecuted in the neighbouring country. Officials of the Thai-Myanmar Township Border Committee or TBC in Myanmar's Kawthaung province informed Thai authorities on Friday that the Myanmar side has prepared to return all belongings of the 92 Thai nationals. Colonel Uthit Anantananont, Deputy Commander of Thailand's Thepsatri Army Task Force told reporters that the belongings of the 92 Thai people should be then handed back to the Thai side soon. The assets of the 92 Thai people were seized after they were arrested on July 4, 2012 for territory encroachment and some of them were also additionally charged with carrying war weapons and involving in drug trafficking. Among the 92 Thai nationals, 83 of them have already been released; while the rest have remained in jail in the neighbouring country under the charges of carrying war weapons and engaging in drug trafficking.
