National Bank intervened USD 152.71M to smooth exchange rate

Bishkek, June 22, 2022. /Kabar/. At the moment, the situation on the currency market remains relatively stable, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan told Kabar News Agency. In six months of 2021, the official exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the som decreased by 6.25%, from KGS 84.8000 to KGS 79.5000 per one U.S. dollar. Thus, from the beginning of 2022 to June 20, in order to smooth the sharp fluctuations of the exchange rate, the National Bank carried out five interventions on the sale of foreign currency in the amount of USD 284.30 million (of which USD 66.65 million was sold in cash) and six interventions on the purchase of USD 131.59 million. The total net sale amounted to USD 152.71 million.
