National Youth Day Sees Two Malaysian Records Created

PUTRAJAYA, May 24 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the National Youth Day this year, two records were expected to be made in 'The Malaysia Book of Record' for designing and colouring the longest batik as well as the 1Malaysia Youth Musical Marching. The designing and colouring of a 250-metre long batik involved 1,700 youths from various skills institutes including National Craft Institute, National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) and Baitulmal Skills Institute. According to the representative and patron of the Kota Gagasan Youth Association, Noraniza Idris, the batik designing and colouring began on Wednesday morning and at the moment almost 180 metres had been completed. "All the processes of designing were expected to be completed by the launching day," she told reporters after the design launching by the Deputy Minister of Information Communication and Culture Maglin Dennis D'Cruz. Noraniza said the final touch on the batik designing was scheduled to be carried out by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Saturday which would be the highlight of the celebration. "The batik designing and colouring this time will rewrite the old record of 180 metres long while the musical marching is a new event," she said. -- BERNAMA
