Navy Commandos Save Iran Oil Tanker From Pirates

Tehran, Feb 26, IRNA – Iranian navy commandos on Saturday successfully rescued an Iranian oil tanker from a group of pirates in free waters. Vigilant naval forces were patrolling the open seas Saturday when they noticed that an Iranian oil tanker came under attack by a group of pirates, said a report issued by public relations department of Iran’s Navy. Immediately after the attack which occurred about 35 miles away from Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Iranian forces took timely action and forced the pirates to flee the scene of conflict, said the report. The oil tanker then continued sailing towards its destination without any problem, said the report. Iran’s Navy plays a key role in protecting security of sea navigation in open seas./end
