New Thai-Cambodian permanent border pass opened

BANGKOK, March 20 (TNA) - A new permanent Thai-Cambodian border pass has been established in Sa Kaeo Province in the Thai East as part of a joint border development plan between the two neighboring countries in the ASEAN Community (AC). Sa Kaeo Governor Pornpot Penpas told journalists on Tuesday that the newly-established "Ban Khao Din" Border Pass in Klong Had District has been upgraded from a temporary border checkpoint by the Thai Ministry of Interior with its new status announced in the Royal Gazette on March 15. The governor said he paid a visit to Cambodia's Battambang Province on March 19 to invite Cambodian authorities to join their Thai counterparts in unofficially opening the Ban Khao Din Border Pass on March 30, prior to its official opening by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, expected in mid-May 2018. The governor revealed that during his one-day trip to the neighboring Cambodian province, he also raise the joint development plan of the Ban Khao Din Permanent Border Pass for discussions in details, along with other border cooperation issues.
