New Thai King appoints Privy Council
BANGKOK,December 6 (TNA) - His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has appointed 10 members of the new Privy Council, bringing in three new privy councilors.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, three new members of Thailand's Privy Council include Justice Minister General Paiboon Koomchaya, Education Minister General Dapong Ratanasuwan and former army chief General Teerachai Nakwanich.
Seven members from the previous Privy Council of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej have been re-appointed as the privy councilors by the new Thai monarch, including the 96-year-old Privy Council President, General Prem Tinsulanonda, who is also a former Thai prime minister.
The six other reappointed privy councilors include former prime minister General Surayud Chulanont, Kasem Wattanachai, Palakorn Suwanrath, Atthaniti Disatha-amnarj, Supachai Poo-ngam, Chanchai Likhitjitta and Air Chief Marshal Chalit Pukbhasuk.
The royal appointment of the new Privy Council came after the previous Privy Council of the late Thai monarch recently resigned. (TNA)
