New-type Hydraulic Turbines Introduced in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Hydro-power stations in the DPRK push forward with the work to introduce new-type hydraulic turbines. The Ministry of Electric Power Industry has carried on the scrupulous guidance over the project to install at hydro-power stations turbines of new-type the advantage of which was confirmed in practice. Such new-type turbines were applied to the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station and other power stations. On this basis, the Thaechon Power Station No. 1 replaced its existing turbine with a high-efficient new-type one this year. A similar work is now going on at the Suphung Power Station. Officials and workers of the Kumya Hydraulic Generating Equipment Factory have given spurs to the production of new-type turbines, strictly observing the requirements of the design. -0-
