NGO Exploiting Misery Of Families Of Three Dead Indonesians

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, May 4 (Bernama) -- Local non-governmental organisation (NGO) Migrant Care is allegedly exploiting the misery of the families concerned, without considering the real issues behind the death of three Indonesian workers in Malaysia in March. The trio were shot dead by Malaysian police at a housing estate near Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan on March 24, when they attacked them with machetes. Head of the Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Jumhur Hidayat, said as an NGO, Migrant Care was unwise in making statements aimed at confusing the situation by casting aspersions on the result of autopsies on the bodies. It is believed that Migrant Care was linked to an allegation that organs of the dead men were harvested in Malaysia. The result of the second autopsy carried out by the Indonesian police forensic team on the bodies of Herman, 34, Abdul Kadir Jaelani, 25, and Mad Noor, 28 from Lombok Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat on April 26 and 27, found no organs harvested. Jumhur clarified that the second autopsy was carried out professionally by a team of forensic doctors. "To continue struggling in the interest of Indonesian workers, Migrant Care should be more professional and not lose sight of being objective which could complicate the situation," he said in a news clip on the agency's website. According to news reports, a post-mortem on the bodies was first carried out at the Port Dickson Hospital on March 26 and 27, two days after the trio were shot dead. "Findings of the post-mortem concluded they died from multiple shots in the head and body. "From the autopsy conducted, no organs were harvested from the deceased," said Jumhur. -- BERNAMA
