NIHR Board of Commissioners holds fifth meeting

Manama, Apr. 16 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Board of Commissioners held its fifth regular meeting today at the institution’s premises at Seef District under the presidency of NIHR President Maria Khouri. Discussions focused on a number of issues, including the activities of the three permanent specialised committees as well as complaints and requests for legal assistance received by NIHR. The Secretariat General’s report for the first quarter of 2018 was also approved. The Board of Commissioners listened to a briefing on the activities of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission and got informed about the announced and unannounced visits made by the supervisory committee of the reform, rehabilitation and detention centres.
