NIHR committee holds meeting

Manama, May 18 (BNA): The Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee at the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held here today a meeting under the chairmanship of Fareed Ghazi, and with the participation of members Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and Dr. Jamila Al-Sammak. The panel reviewed its achievements during the month of April, including a proposal to amend some articles 1, 6 and 8 of law 27/2005 with respect to education to extend free compulsory education to cover the secondary education. They also included a proposal to amend clause II of Article (21) of Law 74 / 2006 on the Welfare, Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities, as well as visions regarding laws referred to the Legislative Branch and related to human rights. The committee also discussed a proposal to establish an environment public prosecution to deal with environment-related violations and crimes.
