NIHR Committee holds meeting

Manama, June.22 (BNA): The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee held its 14th regular meeting. Chaired by Farid Ghazi, the session was also attended by members Dr. Abdulrahman Jawaheri and Dr. Jameela Al-Sammak at NIHR headquarters in Seef district. The panel, which is one of NIHR standing committees, is mandated to submit advisory opinions regarding human rights, economic, social and cultural issues, in addition to following-up public opinion trends and related media programmes. The committee also studies the economic situation in Bahrain, focusing particularly on the levels of revenues, prices and the evaluation of educational syllabus in compliance with international criteria. It follows-up the implementation of international agreements and covenants and reviews the reservations of Bahrain regarding some conventions as a signatory member country .
