NIHR monitoring committee holds meeting

Manama, Aug. 30 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee held its fifteenth meeting chaired by Maria Khoury and attended by committee members Khaled Al Shaer and Rawda Al Aradi.
The committee reviewed all complaints received by the NIHR, and legal assistance and advice it provided. Six complaints had been received and measures taken in this regard and communicated with the concerned authorities for their follow-up.
The committee also provided thirteen legal consultations ranging from assistance to receiving health care, treatment of inmate at the rehabilitation centre as well as requests for assistance and finding answers to some unresolved housing requests. The NIHR also identified four cases through the media and social outlets. The committee received ninety-eight cases through the toll free hotline to receive complaints and provided legal consultation during July and August.
The committee praised the efforts undertaken by the General Secretariat under the supervision of the Secretary General of the NIHR, Dr. Khalifa Al Fadhel and the launch of the Integrated Communications Management System (CMS) for receiving complaints and queries via the hotline provided by customer service team.
