NIHR officials meet British delegation

Manama, Apr. 19 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)'s president Dr. Abdulaziz Hasan Abul met the Head of Arabian Peninsula Department at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Neil Bush, and his accompanying delegation. Dr. Abul reviewed with the visiting delegation the role being undertaken by the National Institution in spreading the culture of, and boosting, developing and protecting, human rights citing the duties of the Institution in following up citizens' and residents' human rights complaints. During the meeting, the head of delegation praised the National Institution's role in protecting and boosting human rights and the culture of, and awareness about, human rights. He stressed the importance of deepening the cooperation between the two sides regarding the boosting and protection of human rights which was also an opportunity for both sides to exchange views around how to boost the bilateral cooperation ties in a bid to support the efforts aimed at achieving their common goals. The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR)'s vice president Abdullah Al Derazi, the Head of Complaints Follow-up and Monitoring Committee Maria Khoury, the Assistant Secretary-general Advisor Yasser Shaheen, and the Director of Information Technology and Communications Fahad Al Ali attended the meeting from NIHR's side.
