NIHR President meets UNDP official

Manama, Nov. 15 (BNA): National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) President Maria Khoury today received UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Amin El Sharkawi and discussed cooperation to support sustainable development. She reiterated the keenness of the national foundation on strengthening cooperation with the Bahrain-based UNDP, stressing the importance of the benefiting from UNDP expertise and initiatives. The meeting was also attended by NIHR secretary-general Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel. El Sharkawi congratulated Khoury on assuming NIHR presidency unopposed. He also congratulated Dr. Al-Fadhel on his appointment, commending NIHR legislative strides in promoting human rights in Bahrain.
