NIHR receives US Congress staff delegation

Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) today received a delegation from the staff of the US House of Representatives and Senate. NIHR Chairman, Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, briefed the US Congress staff delegation about the NIHR’s role in dealing with the human rights situation in the kingdom, in accordance with its terms of reference, as well as about its advisory role in submitting recommendations related to human rights. He stressed the importance of such visits in providing an opportunity to collect first-hand information about the progress currently witnessed by the kingdom, through the promotion of rights and freedoms for all citizens and residents.
