Ombudsman receives Austrian ambassador

Manama, Nov. 25 (BNA): Ombudsman, Nawaf Mohammed Al-Ma'awda, received here today the Kuwait-resident Austrian Ambassador to Bahrain, Dr. Sigurd Pacher. The visit is within the Office of the Ombudsman’s keenness to increase its international cooperation activities in order to avail of international expertise and exchange views regarding the work of ombudsman offices. Al-Ma'awda briefed the ambassador about the Office of the Ombudsman’s duties and terms of reference, as well as on its annual reports, and the statistics, figures and information included in them. He also highlighted the role played by the Office of Ombudsman in consolidating the respect for human rights principles and serving the public. He also spoke about the Office of the Ombudsman’s relations with other institutions, such as the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC). Deputy Ombudsman, Ghada Hameed, and Director of International Cooperation, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa, were present.
