Ombudsman's office role highlighted

Manama, June 25 (BNA): Ombudsman, Nawaf Mohammed Al-Ma’awda, received here today the Deputy Head of the Swiss Diplomatic Mission to Bahrain, Pascal Rass. The ombudsman welcomed the Swiss diplomat, and briefed him about the Office of the Ombudsman regarding its terms of reference and responsibilities aimed at promoting human rights and humane treatment of the public, including expatriate communities in Bahrain.  He also reviewed with him the annual reports issued by the Office of the Ombudsman, as well as the role and duties of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission. The meeting also highlighted aspects of the Office of the Ombudsman’s cooperation with international institutions and organisations, within the framework of international cooperation programmes, training and exchange of expertise.
