ONCB: Powdered plum ecstasy not yet found in Thailand
BANGKOK, Feb 13 (TNA) – Thai anti-narcotics authorities affirmed that a new type of ecstasy, said to resemble Chinese plum powder, has yet to be found in Thailand.
In response to reports of the new form of the ecstasy circulating in the social media, Niyom Termsrisuk, deputy secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), said the news originated in Taiwan.
The Taiwanese authorities arrested a middle-aged man and first seized the drug in 2015.
The pink narcotics powder, known as King Kong in Taiwan, is reportedly sold in plastic bags. It has a sweet taste. Users usually mix it with beverages or put it in tobaccos. It is said to be cheaper but stronger than ketamine.
Mr Niyom, however, said the King Kong powder has yet to be found in Thailand. Still, ONCB will stay vigilant to prevent the drug from spreading in the kingdom.
He advised parents to warn their children not to accept any food or drink from strangers as the ecstasy could harm their brain. (TNA)
