Overseas Pakistanis Urged to Represent Their Country Through Exemplary Conduct
KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- Pakistanis living abroad should reflect a
high degree of probity in their daily conduct and respect the local laws to
prove themselves as a disciplined and law-abiding people, said Pakistan's High
Commissioner to Malaysia, Masood Khalid.
“It is important that the Pakistanis, whether they have rights of residency
or are living here for work or studying in the local educational institutions,
should keep a vigil within their ranks on those elements who bring a bad name to
the community, and isolate them,” he said when addressing a gathering of
Pakistani businessmen, traders and professionals settled in Malaysia, here,
Tuesday.
He highlighted the measures taken by the high commission in recent months to
further facilitate the Pakistanis approaching the mission for various consular
and visa services.
He said the mission wanted to keep a close and regular interaction with the
community, and the organisation of community events and forums was meant to work
closely with representatives of the community with a view to addressing any
issues facing the community.
Khalid urged the Pakistanis living in Malaysia to remember their identity
and carry themselves as the true ambassadors of Pakistan, winning hearts and
minds and commanding respect and goodwill through their strength of character
and deeds of kindness.
“The way you carry yourselves also carries the image of your country,” he
added.
He also urged the Pakistani community in Malaysia to work hard and
contribute towards economic development of Pakistan and strengthening of
brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
“It is a matter of satisfaction that both Pakistan and Malaysia share
similar views on international and bilateral issues.
"I am confident this relationship of trust will grow stronger at the back of
the mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation,” he said.
