Pakistani man arrested for killing Thai woman

BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - Police on Thursday arrested a Pakistani man for murdering a Thai female bar owner in Thailand's northern resort Chiang Mai Province last week. The accused, 41-year-old Syed Muhammad Ali, was apprehended at a check-in counter service of Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The operation followed an arrest warrant earlier approved by Chiang Mai's provincial court for his alleged killing of the Thai woman, Duangduan Haris, on October 18. According to the Thai police, the Pakistani man initially confessed to have killed the Thai female victim, following an argument with her, and then escaped to Hat Yai in Thailand's southern Songkhla province. The Thai police said that the accused was about to leave the Kingdom when he was rounded up, and that he will be sent to Chiang Mai for prosecution as asked by the provincial police. (TNA)
