Pakistani Man Charged With Cheating, Using Others' Credit Cards

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- A Pakistani man pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court here Friday to three counts of cheating and using other individuals' credit cards to purchase a laptop computer two weeks ago. On the first count, Adil Shabbir, 28, a salesman, was charged together with another man at large, with cheating Chin Khai Loon, 32, by dishonestly inducing him to let them use his credit card to purchase the laptop computer. On the second count, Adil was charged with trying to cheat Chin by making him believe that his credit card was used to purchase the laptop computer, while on the third count, Adil was charged with using a credit card belonging to Sherly Chan Boon Choo for personal use. Adil was alleged to have committed the offences at DCS Technology, Lot L3-5-1, Level 3, Brem Mall@Digital Center, Jalan Kepong here at 2.15pm on March 14. He was charged under Section 420 and 403 of the Penal Code which provide a jail term up to 10 years, whipping and possible fine upon conviction. Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin allowed Adil bail of RM5,000 for the first count, and RM3,000 each for the second and third counts in two sureties. The court also set May 4 for remention. Prosecution officer E.Chandra prosecuted, while Adil was represented by lawyer Mohd Shamril Afzan Mohamed Hasim. -- BERNAMA
