Parliament backs BDF statement, condemns terror attack

Manama, Apr. 19 (BNA): The Council of Representatives backed all measures aimed at consolidating Bahrain's security and stability. It voiced its principled and supportive stance as it convened today for its weekly session. Chaired by First Deputy Speaker Ali Al-Aradi, the session backed the statement which was issued by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) in support of the Ministry of Interior in confronting the terrorist attacks which target on-duty policemen who defend Bahrain's security and stability and protect lives and properties. The session commended the armed forces for the historic and brave stance, which reflects unwavering dedication in performing their national duties in defending the homeland and its people. It threw its weight behind all measures being taken to maintain the security and stability of Bahrain and other countries in the Arabian Gulf region and confront the acts of violence, extremism and terrorism which reached alarmingly dangerous levels. The Council of Representatives called for an iron-fist approach in confronting the lawbreakers and holding them accountable to deter anyone who attempts to damage the country's interests and subvert its security and stability, drive wedges between people and undermine national unity. It reiterated its firm rejection of the scourges of terrorism and extremism, urging commitment to the law on protecting society from terrorist acts, adding that the legislation criminalizes any collusion or collaboration with terrorist organisations. It seized the occasion to condemn in the strongest words the terrorist attack which was perpetrated in the village of Karbabad, extending deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the police officer who fell in the line of duty and wishing the wounded quick recovery. The council commended countries which backed Bahrain in confronting terrorist challenges and voiced firm rejection of blatant foreign interference in its internal political affairs. It stressed the need to take all measures so as to put an end to the designs of Iran and the terrorist Hezbollah militias against Bahrain, the GCC countries and the whole Arab region in general. The council called for unified GCC and Arab stances to foil all threats and challenges and wage the war on the terrorist acts fomented by Wilayat al-Faqih and the terrorist Hezbollah militia.
